In preparation for hiking Mt. St. Helens in September, Mike and I are going to try to hike at least every other weekend, gradually increasing the distance. The purpose of this is to get us in hiking shape (obviously) but also for Izzy to get used to packing her own food and water. This past weekend, we did a little 3 miler to the top of Wind Mountain on the Washington side of the Gorge. It was Turk's longest hike thus far, and Izzy's first experience with her "doggie pack." Last weekend, Mike and I loaded up the dogs and our friend Craig into the pick-up and headed south to visit our friend, Rachael. None of us had checked out Smith Rock, so off we went. Enjoy!
